On Tuesday, Aug. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., state representative Marsha Looper will host a Niobrara Oil and Gas Summit at Mountain View Electric Association, 11140 East Woodmen Road in Falcon.Information on the Denver Basin aquifers and the Niobrara hydrocarbon reservoir beneath the aquifers will be presented.This is an opportunity to learn how exploration wells are permitted and how the Division of Water Resources, the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the Department of Local Affairs will oversee oil and gas exploration in El Paso County.On Thursday, Aug. 18, from 6 p.m to 8 p.m, the county will hold another public meeting on oil and gas to follow up on the Aug. 16 meeting and to provide additional information about county-level issues including land use regulations and property rights. This meeting will be held at the El Paso County Public Services Facility, 3255 Akers Drive, in Colorado Springs.
