The El Paso County Board of Commissioners approved $150,000 for an all-terrain fire truck for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department. The fire truck will be used for frontline attacks on wild land fires, a responsibility of county government. By state statute, the sheriff serves as the fire marshal in El Paso County and oversees the El Paso County Wild Land Fire Crew, an all volunteer team.”We have personally witnessed the effects of wild fires on land here in El Paso County,” said county board chairman Dennis Hisey. “This all-terrain fire truck will provide the sheriff’s office with the opportunity to better control and regulate all types of wild fires, including brush and forest fires, to ensure public safety.”
