Exchange Club brings joy to veterans

Veterans, also residents, at Laurel Manor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, were treated to an early Christmas celebration Dec. 15, as members of the Exchange Club of Falcon brought gifts and goodies and lots of cheer to the former military members.About 28 veterans participated and received gifts ó more than 116 presents were collected to give to the veterans. Popcorn tins were also handed out, and more than 500 cookies were shared among the veterans.Four generations of the Miller family were at the event to watch the grandson of Bob Miller, past president of the Exchange Club in Falcon, recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Tristan Delaney, age 6, dressed in fatigues for the event, received a round of applause after he confidently and expressly led everyone in saying the Pledge of Allegiance.The Exchange Club collected gifts and assorted items from Angel Trees set up at various businesses in Falcon and Colorado Springs. Miller said the Exchange Club is grateful to the following businesses for ìhostingî the trees: FirstBank in Falcon, FirstBank on Powers Boulevard in Colorado Springs, Walmart in Falcon and American Insurance Exchange in Colorado Springs.
