Everything’s going right for the Falcons

On Oct. 12, the Falcon High School football team maintained their winning streak by beating last year’s state champion, Alamosa High School. Falcon walked onto the field with a 6-0 record, and aptly challenged Alamosa’s 5-1 record.Alamosa looked like the team to beat as they quickly took the lead by two touchdowns.Finally, sophomore Jesse Weaver slipped into the end zone, giving the Falcons their first touchdown.During the second quarter, Vahn Plambeck scored the second touchdown for Falcon, making it a tie ball game at halftime.Keenen Ballage picked up the pace and gave Falcon a lead with the first score of the third quarter. The Falcon defense refused to let Alamosa score in the third quarter.Fourth quarter action began with a lengthy field goal by Falcon senior Raul Franco, giving Falcon a 10-point lead over Alamosa.Senior Eric Perez decided a 10-point lead wasnít enough so he put six more points on the scoreboard with a touchdown for Falcon. Franco kicked the extra point to make it a 31-14 lead.Zach Roscoe scored another touchdown for Falcon, and with an extra point, the Falcons were ahead of the current state champions by 38-14. That score decided the game and gave Falcon a 7-0 record for the season!After the game, senior quarterback Cade Schulze said the Alamosa challenge was the toughest so far this season. “We came out slow then had to fight to come back,î Schulze said.ìItís an amazing feeling, nothing can stop us now.Coach Jason Catron had this to say: “We came out flat in the first quarter. Alamosa led 14-0. It woke the boys up, and they came out and played harder. It’s a great and beautiful feeling; we are going to keep going. It’s) 7-0 and we are enjoying it.”
