On any given month across the Pikes Peak Region, hundreds of foster families nurture abused and neglected children after they are removed from their homes because of unsafe situations. These unsung heroes are seldom recognized for their commitment to provide the kids with a normal life. However, Cave of the Winds, a local Colorado Springs tourist attraction, will honor these families with a special promotion.”People don’t recognize the value of what foster families provide,” said Grant Carey, owner of Cave of the Winds. “These kids come with a lot of disappointments, so foster parents work hard to give them a stable home, food to eat and a life organized enough to get them to school regularly. We want to cast a little light on our region’s foster parents this summer and give them a well-deserved day out with their kids.”During the month of June, Cave of the Winds will donate $2 for each full-priced Cave of the Winds ticket sold to the Kids Resource Network of Colorado Springs. With that fund, foster families will be given a free Discovery Tour to Cave of the Winds, including free hot dogs, drinks and family photo.Colorado Springs families who wish to support foster families in this promotion should go to www.caveofthewinds.com and click on the Foster Family Day Trip icon. Participants will be asked to print out a promotional coupon and bring it to the Cave of the Winds ticket counter when purchasing tickets. Participants purchasing full-priced tickets will receive free popcorn and a free fountain drink as a thank you.”Our goal from this promotion is to give day trips to over 300 foster families,” Carey said. “I hope the community responds. By giving your own family a fun adventure – you can give foster families an outing, too. It’s a win-win for all of us!”For more information on the Foster Family Day Trip, visit www.caveofthewinds.com.If anyone is interested in becoming a foster parent, visit www.kidsresourcenetworkcs.com.
