NEWS BRIEFS: MVEA charging stations

On Nov. 4, Mountain View Electric Association celebrated the installation of three Level 2 chargers with a ribbon cutting ceremony. These chargers are open to the public.  They are listed on the Alternative Fuel Station Locator and the PlugShare application, a comprehensive EV charging station map and trip planner. Understanding the importance of affordability, MVEA is charges at a rate of $0.29 per kWh.

MVEA’s new EV charging stations were made possible with the generous support of two grants: the Tri-State G&T Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program, providing $45,000, and the Colorado Energy Office (CEO) ChargeAhead grant, contributing $18,750.

Sara Muirheid, MVEA communications supervisor, wrote in an email: On average, 37 people use the chargers per month since they became available in October. She also stated that public charging in Colorado costs on average $0.45 per kWh. MVEA’s charging rate is $0.29 per kWh. Level 2 charging usually takes between four to eight hours to fully charge a vehicle, Muirheid wrote. People are welcome to come sit and relax in our lobby or there are several nearby businesses within walking distance.
