News release
The 12th Annual Ranch Horse Round Up will be held from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 25 at the Kit Carson Riding Club, 6775 Cowpoke Road in Black Forest, bringing together riders, clinicians, sponsors and supporters for a full day of ranch horsemanship and fundraising.
The event will feature four National Versatility Ranch Horse Association clinicians who are donating their time and expertise in support of military focused charitable giving. Participants will take part in two ranch horse clinics and two cattle clinics, with proceeds designated for fallen and wounded service members and their families.
All branches of the military, including the Remount Foundation and YMCA Camp Shady Brook, will receive 100% of the proceeds. In 2025, the event raised $16,200. KC riding club and the NVRHA have contributed $105,500 through the Ranch Horse Round Up, which is co-sponsored by KCRC and NFRHA.
This year’s clinicians are Ben Grogan of Grogan Performance Horses in Penrose; Sam Grogan of Grogan Horses in Elizabeth; Spencer Bruce of Hipshot Horsemanship in Elizabeth; and Jessica Smith of Jessica Smith Performance Horses in Peyton.
Organizers say the event is open to riders and horses of all skill levels and is designed to provide practical instruction in ranch horse versatility while supporting a broader charitable mission.
Registration is open at https://www.nvrha.org/rhru-general-registration-riding.html. Rider fees are $160 for adults and $120 for youth age 17 and under.
Registration closes July 15 or when the event reaches its 40-rider capacity.
In addition to rider entry fees, support for the event includes business sponsorships, personal donations, auctions, raffles and donated services.
The event will also include an on-site sale of new and gently used tack and western items.
The Ranch Horse Round Up is family friendly and free to the public. There are on-site concessions.
