Optimist Club has first meeting in Falcon

Donna Priester, president of the Optimist Club Colorado/Wyoming District, discussed the reasons to have an optimist club in Falcon at a recent meeting at the High Plains Library. She talked about how the club lifts the spirits of adults and gives them a chance to make a real difference in their community.Plus, children growing up today are the first generation of Americans who might not be better off than their parents. Through optimist clubs young people learn life skills that will serve them well during their lifetime.Kathleen Voss, Falcon School District 49 internship coordinator, said, in addition to the public school students, there is a large population of home-schooled children in Falcon who could benefit from optimist club programs. All optimist clubs are autonomous. Each club decides on the location and times of their meeting.A second formation meeting will be held in September. The date, time and location will be announced as arrangements are made. Interested persons can contact Don Williams at optimistdon2@gmail.com for details.
