Organizations and individuals with data relevant to groundwater quality in the alluvial aquifer of the Upper Black Squirrel Creek Basin are invited to share their information with the El Paso County Groundwater Quality Study Committee. The committee is conducting a study to evaluate existing water quality data on nitrates and other contaminants. The outcome of the study will be used to identify data gaps and explore land use planning implications relative to groundwater contamination.The Colorado Geological Survey is under contract to conduct the study and is currently compiling information from both public and private entities. While the study is primarily focused on nitrate concentrations in groundwater, other interests are described in the “Scope of Work” for the study, which may be viewed at http://adm.elpasoco.com/Development_Services/Development_Services_Boards_and_CommitteesInformation relevant to this study should be submitted no later than Aug. 13.
