The El Paso County’s Citizen Outreach Group (COG) is accepting applications for the El Paso County Citizens’ College fall semester.This year’s expanded curriculum includes one class a week for eight weeks, starting Aug. 29 and ending Oct. 17. A graduation ceremony includes a roundtable discussion with the county commissioners.The sessions are 5:30 to 8:45 p.m. and will be held in various locations. Applications are open to all residents of El Paso County. There is no cost, but an early application is advised because of the limited class size. The deadline for applications is Aug. 16.Leaders in county government will cover the following topics: government overview, external and internal operations, county services, CSU extension and health and human services, the judicial system, the justice system and law enforcement; county boards, budget and commissioners.Sponsors of the classes include the Center for the Study of Government and the Individual at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, the Housing & Building Association of Colorado Springs, the El Pomar Foundation, the Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce, the Pikes Peak Association of Realtors and Terry R. Harris, former county administrator.
