Last month, a judge dismissed a motion from the developer of Sanctuary in the Pines to disallow objections from the Upper Black Squirrel Groundwater Management District concerning the county’s approval of the Sanctuary in the Pines development. The development is planned for the northeast corner of Vollmer Road and Shoup Road. The UBS district objects to the development’s plans that call for septic systems on 2. 5 acre parcels. “The drainage is terrible there, with lots of standing water; plus, the development is on the headwaters of the Upper Black Squirrel,” said Kathy Hare, president of the UBS district. Hare also said the developers didn’t provide an adequate geology and drainage report. The district also is asking for an injunction to prevent the county from approving the development before the issue is heard by a judge, Hare said. A hearing date has not been set.
