Youth of the Month: JanuaryThe Exchange Club of Falcon awarded Graydon Brewer from Ellicott High School as the Youth of the Month for January. In addition to Graydonís GPA of 3.67, his outstanding accomplishments in school are many. He will study meteorology at the University of Denver. This engaging student wrote a paragraph of what he is most proud of. His greatest achievement is winning fourth place nationally for successfully completing the Lifesmarts Test by the Future Business Leaders of America. There are more than a quarter million members in the national organization, and only 10,000 qualify to the national level of competition. Out of this number, only 400 students place at national. Graydon not only placed within this small margin, but he excelled as the fourth place winner.Accepting the challenge of excellenceThe A.C.E. award is bestowed on a student who has achieved success scholastically, despite unusually difficult circumstances. In January, the Exchange Club of Falcon presented this award to an admirable youth who met this qualification. Bryson Cowen from Ellicott High School, despite a severe vision impairment, will graduate on time with his peers. He intends to study history and theology at Bethany College. Brysonís aspirations include working with youth groups in the community by ministering to them and leading them to enriched lives. With Brysonís capability of making the best of a serious situation, he will undoubtedly be an inspiration to young people.Youth of the Month: FebruaryThe Exchange Club of Falcon recognized Emma Nowlin as the Youth of the Month for February. This remarkable young lady keeps up with her school responsibilities, as well as her many outside involvements. Her class standing is sixth out of a class of 288 at Falcon High School, where she maintains a 3.958 GPA. She placed in Health Education HOSA Nationals, Persuasive Speaking HOSA State, and was nominated for 2015 Woman of the Year for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Exercising her leadership qualities, she is a student council representative, HOSA vice president of fundraising, peer mediator and link leader. Her volunteer activities include organizing Thanksgiving baskets for families in need through her church, plus a number of other interests, in addition to working 18 hours each week at Peak Gymnastics. Another significant accomplishment: Emma organized a fundraiser for a 4-year-old boy, diagnosed with leukemia. She used her skills to persuade businesses and schools to help raise money for this boy.
