Student exchange program needs host families

It’s not too late to provide a unique opportunity for an international student and a local family. The Council on International Educational Exchange is looking for host families in the Falcon area for the 2010/11 school year. Host families provide their student with a bed and a place to study, meals (with the exception of lunches on school days) and also arrange for transportation to and from school. Host families must be at least 25 years old and can be single parents or couples without children.CIEE screens and interviews families to ensure a good match, and families have the option of hosting a student for either five or 10 months. Students in the program are between the ages of 15 and 181/2, must have a C+ grade average, which they must maintain throughout their stay, and they must pass an English proficiency test. The CIEE administers several U.S. government-funded scholarship programs and is highly selective of the students who receive scholarships. Students in the program are from Germany, Eurasia (countries of the former Soviet Union), Serbia and Montenegro, the Middle East, North Africa and Asia. For more information about hosting a student, visit www.ciee.org, e-mail highschool@ciee.org or call 1-800-9944.
