Spend it or save it?

It’s not news that for the last several months Americans have watched the price of gasoline and groceries go steadily up while the economy seems to continually get worse. As a result, President Bush passed a stimulus package where each taxpayer would receive a tax rebate in hopes they will spend it and bring the economy back on track.According to the Internal Revenue Service Web site, the United States Treasury started sending out checks in May, with plans to send economic stimulus payments to more than 130 million households. In order to receive a payment, taxpayers must have a valid Social Security number, $3,000 of income and file a 2007 federal tax return. Eligible people are supposed to receive up to $600 ($1,200 for married couples), and parents will receive an additional $300 for each eligible child younger than 17.So, what are the taxpayers in Falcon planning to do with their money? Save it? Spend it? Or a little bit of both? Here’s what they had to say.
