On Aug. 4, at the regularly scheduled Falcon Professional Development League, the new interim D 49 school superintendent, Ron Wynn, talked to local business owners and consultants about the challenges facing the growing district. The story has been told repeatedly, from recent accounts in The Gazette to monthly articles in The New Falcon Herald. However, in light of a November election that might include another request for a mil levy override, the story can’t be told too many times. At the FPDL meeting, Wynn reiterated what many already know: The district is growing rapidly, and D 49 continues to be the fastest-growing school district in Colorado. Funding the necessities is no easy task for a new superintendent.”The existing school sites are very overcrowded,” Wynn said. “We are still putting up modulars.” School started on Aug. 5, with an approximate 800-to-1,000 more students, Wynn said. People are still moving to the Falcon area because, as Wynn said, “You get more bang for your buck out here.”
