The August fire safety tip comes from Taylor Kurtz, firefighter/driver, who is a six-year veteran of the Falcon Fire Protection District. Kurtz said he was hooked on becoming a firefighter after a ride-along. He was interested in the medical side of the job, and he found fighting fires challenging. He likes the diversity of problems that need resolved. Kurtz is single and likes to spend his off-duty hours hiking, climbing and visiting breweries. Before coming a firefighter, he worked at Starbucks.August Fire Safety Tip: Make sure there are no combustible materials such as trees or sheds around the house; store fuels in approved containers; and keep yards mowed.
