When officers of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office are dispatched on calls, they deal with unknown situations that may involve children. In those situations, along with handling their ordinary duties, officers are also confronted with helping a child. The sheriff’s office has, in the past, handed out teddy bears and quilts to children, donated by the Exchange Club. At a March meeting, Sgt. Mark Getskow of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office was presented with 20 quilts, coloring books and crayons; all cellophane-wrapped together for convenient handling. The quilts were hand made by Nita Williford, a generous contributor to the club, and Mary Lou Crabill, a member of the club. The Exchange Club is able to make donations such as these because of the generosity of members, contributors and through fundraising efforts by the club. The Falcon Exchange club will sponsor a charity golf tournament June 25 at the Antler Creek Golf Course and are hoping for a large turnout, which will help fund future projects. For more information about the Falcon Exchange Club, please contact Bob Miller at 641-0752 or Joe Bauer at 262-9222, and visit the Web site at www.falconexchangeclub.us.
