On May 16, the Falcon American Legion Dane R. Balcon Post 2008 set up booths in front of King Soopers just before the annual Run for the Wall motorcycle convoy passed through. Run for the Wall is a nationwide event to honor fallen veterans, prisoners of war and those missing in action.
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 2008 set up various booths and sponsored a community flag exchange, where people can donate an old flag in exchange for a new one.
Paper poppies were handed out in honor of Armed Forces Day, and the group raffled off a bicycle. Donations were encouraged, as all donations go toward helping the community, whether it is families of fallen veterans or sponsoring scholarships for School District 49. Legion Auxiliary President Dana Ware said, “We’re here for the community, and we do what we can.”

Legion auxiliary members manned a booth and handed out paper poppies: from left to right — Bertha Coch, Jennifer Kendig, Joseph Lima, Sharon Wicklif, Roy “Wookiee” West, Dana Ware and Kathy “Stitch” Peterson.
