An Eggcited community

On Saturday, April 4, the new Meridian Ranch Field House hosted a community “Eggventure” event. The traditional egg gathering ran throughout the day alongside numerous other activities and local vendors.

Aside from the food trucks, most of the event took place in the new complex, a spacious indoor sporting facility that filled within 30 minutes of the egg hunt’s start. Hundreds of people cycled in and out as the day’s activities proceeded. The egg hunt occupied half the field, divided down the middle; the other half featured Easter-themed games like cornhole and an obstacle course. Participants were separated by age to level the playing field, and new eggs were periodically spread across the turf for the next rotation of kids. While waiting for their time slots, families explored vendor booths and the facility. At every corner of the building, activity stations offered scavenger hunts, face painting, and arts and crafts.

A new addition to the local food vendor lineup was a mobile shaved-ice and ice-cream trailer, Shiver and Shake. Boaters and sun-seekers who frequent Lake Pueblo in summer may recognize the name; Andrew Diaz and his family have operated a storefront of the same name in Pueblo West for two years. Diaz said his family recently moved to the Banning-Lewis Ranch development and their mobile unit will be active at future community events.

A slew of other food trucks were also available to event goers.

Kids patiently waited outside the gates before they were allowed to go in and collect their eggs. The kids were given time slots and grouped by age levels.
