The Islamic Society of Colorado Springs has proposed a faith-based Community Center within unincorporated El Paso County. The project is located at 7610 Maverick Road in Colorado Springs. The lot is currently zoned as Residential Rural RR-5 with religious institutions as permitted use.
The community and event center is about 25,300 square feet and will serve religious as well as social needs. The center will include a prayer hall, gymnasium, classrooms, kitchen and a day care facility. The facility is proposed to be built in phases as funding becomes available.
The proposed facility will utilize a water well and a septic system. The facility will also have water storage tanks for fire protection and to serve water hydrants. An onsite detention pond have been designed to handle storm water
