From Oct. 1 through Oct 5, Meridian Ranch Elementary will hold its fall “Scholastic Book Fair.” The book fair connects students to books they want to purchase and read and helps the school earn books to fill its library.Meridian Ranch Elementary has more than 650 students, up from 620 last year and 450 the previous year.Last year, the school raised more than $5,000 to purchase additional books for the library, thanks to corporate benefactors Farmers State Bank, Scott Carmack of State Farm Insurance, Big R of Falcon and Alpine Vision. The school earns up to 60 cents for every dollar spent at the book fair. The money goes toward the purchase of new books for the library.Meridian Ranch is seeking corporate sponsors again this year. Sponsors support scholarships that allow the school to randomly select students and teachers who are awarded gift certificates, from $5 to $25, to purchase books at the book fair. The donation benefits everyone: students and teachers get the books they need; the school library earns new books, which benefits all students; the sponsor’s name is highlighted at the school and provided to the parents; the donation is tax deductible. Simple cash donations are accepted as well.If a business would like to participate, send a tax deductible donation no later than Sept. 26, made payable to Meridian Ranch Elementary School. Mail to Meridian Ranch Elementary School Library; Attn: Kyla Greenfield, 10480 Rainbow Bridge Dr., Peyton, CO 80831.
