Colorado Equine Veterinary Services hosted the third annual Colorado Springs Horseman’s Day at Falcon High School March 24. The event focused on education through roundtable discussions with performance experts and veterinarians.Sarah Gibson, event coordinator, said the two main sponsors ñ Adequan and Pfizer ñ presented information on maintaining healthy animals.Gibson said more than 500 people attended; yet, because of scheduling conflicts and other equine events, the attendance was lower than expected. The kids who attended were entertained, compliments of the 4-H Horse Advisory Committee of El Paso County. ìThe 4-H group sold concession items and sponsored a youth center,î Gibson said. ìThe kids got to build their own stick horse and had a stick horse rodeo. They offered coloring and arts and crafts.îFor the adults, 38 vendors displayed the latest products and services for the horse lover. Door prizes and prizes for participating in games were provided as well.Colorado Springs Horseman’s Day is an annual event, and Gibson said they hope to expand and include demonstrations alongside the roundtable discussions.
