FHS student awarded art competition grand prize

Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) awarded Falcon High School student Mikaela Fortune the grand prize in the 27th Annual Congressional Art Competition. Mikaela’s artwork, “Friends,” was done with Prisma Marker and will hang in the U.S. Capitol for visitors to view throughout this year. Fortune also won a $4,000 scholarship from the Adduce Foundation to study fine arts at the college of her choice. There were 90 student entries in this year’s competition. A panel of professional artists and instructors from the Cottonwood Artists’ School in Colorado Springs selected this year’s winners. Lamborn hosted a ceremony Feb. 28 in Colorado Springs to honor the student artists.
