FFPD May board meeting

The Falcon Fire Protection District held its regular monthly board meeting May 18. All board members were present, including Richard Shearer, legal counsel for the district.Swearing in of board membersAttorney Shearer administered the oath of office to directors Dan Kupferer, Joan Hathcock and Mike Collins. By a vote of the board, Kupferer and Hathcock each retained their respective positions as board president and vice president.Treasurerís reportFire Chief Trent Harwig reported that, as of April 30, the fiscal year was 33 percent complete. The district has received 28 percent of its anticipated revenue. General fund expenses were at 22 percent. Expenses from the capital improvement fund were at 27 percent. Harwig said that revenue from special ownership taxes is slightly higher than last year.Incident statisticsFFPD responded to 153 calls for service during the month of April. The year-to-date total is 697, which is 3.3 percent higher than the same period in 2015.Station 4The district received the lease purchase agreement for Station 4 just prior to theboard meeting. The term of the agreement is 10 years for the amount of $1,770,000. Legal counsel will review the document.The groundbreaking ceremony for Station 4 will be June 15 at 8 a.m. at 2710 Capital Drive. The public is invited to attend.Exclusion from the districtHarwig said the district has received notice of an exclusion request for property that has been annexed by the city. The parcels total about 100 acres and are located on the southeast side of Marksheffel Road and Dublin Boulevard.
