The district has received about 2 percent of its anticipated revenue, according to the treasurerís report.Incident statisticsThe district responded to 187 incidents in February, which represented a 27 percent increase over the number of incidents for February 2015. Of those, six have already begun working shifts and a seventh was slated to begin the weekend following the board meeting. Harwig said reservists logged 761 standby hours in the first two months of 2016, compared to 732 hours for all of 2015. A new reserve firefighter academy was scheduled to begin March 16, with nine recruits.Harwig noted that Pikes Peak Community College is currently running its largest Fire Science academy, and said that FFPD has been invited to speak to those students. The districtís annual financial audit is scheduled for the week of March 21.Resolution to cancel board electionSince the districtís designated election official received three self-nomination forms and no write-in candidate requests for the three open director positions, the May 3 election has been cancelled. Harwig said this will save the district about $20,000 to $25,000. Current directors Dan Kupferer, Joan Hathcock and Mike Collins will fill the open seats.Highway 24/Meridian Road intersectionDirector Tom Kerby has been in contact with county planning engineers regarding the redesign of the Highway 24 intersection with Meridian Road. ìIím concerned that under the current (planned) configuration, weíre going to have a hard time turning fire apparatus around,î he said. Kerby said construction likely wonít begin until 2017 because funding and right-of-way issues still need to be addressed, and the final design for the project hasnít yet been completed.Station 4A community selection committee reviewed construction bids for Station 4 and made its recommendation to the board. Representatives from T-Bone Construction Inc. and Hammers Construction Inc. gave presentations and answered questions from the board about their proposals. The board selected Hammers Construction as the Station 4 contractor.
