The Exchange Club hosted a breakfast at Nana’s Kitchen April 26 for the Club’s 2024 Firefighter of the Year from the Falcon Fire Protection District. Lt. Cody Finn was presented with a plaque and gift certificates. Finn was nominated by Chief Trent Harwig and Deputy Chief Petersma. “Cody embraces all aspects of his assigned duties and roles and shows conviction and execution of his lieutenant job description. Mr. Finn goes above and beyond with organizing and coordinating his crew’s activities … was chosen to be a part of the ladder truck specification committee … participated in designing the new ladder truck that is on order.” Lt Finn and the FFPD are a great asset to the Falcon Community, and they all actually deserve an award.
At the May 7 meeting, the Exchange Club’s guest speaker was from the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Pikes Peak Region. Beth Mack (volunteer recruitment manager) provided our members with information on the services they provide in El Paso and Teller counties. They train and supervise volunteers to represent the best interests of victims of child abuse, neglect and severed domestic conflict. We are proud to partner with CASA as part of our pillar of Child Abuse Prevention (national project of National Exchange Club). They are accepting volunteers and will train you to be a child advocate.
We welcomed two new members to the Exchange Club: Eileen Ward and Diana Neitz Eileen is retired and lives in Falcon, and Diana is a veterinarian and resides in Fountain. We are always welcoming new members so please call Don Koveleski at 719-369-5158 for more information.
The Exchange Club of Falcon is hosting the Eastern Plains Senior Resource Expo on July 26 at Bennett Ranch Elementary School. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will have more than 15 agencies from El Paso County who provide services to our elderly in the Eastern Plains region (Black Forest, Falcon, Calhan and Peyton). A list of agencies will be provided in the July issue of The New Falcon Herald so look out for that information. We welcome our elderly and their caregivers to the expo. We will have free hot dogs and hamburgers during the lunch hour — first come, first serve.
The 16th Annual Robert “Bob” Miller Memorial Charity Golf Tournament will be held June 13, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Antler Creek Golf Course in Falcon.
