September is ìBaby Safety Monthî and on Sept. 18, the Exchange Club of Falcon hosted Traci Hearne, executive director of KPC Kids Place, a respite for parents or foster parents who can drop off their children when they have necessary appointments. The organization also provides clothing, food, diapers, etc. for the children (ages 2 to 12). Family circumstances are all different: Some need family counseling or help to rebuild their marriages, or perhaps a parent needs an advocate to work with them. The program helps mitigate problems associated with potential child abuse situations.Last September, the club purchased four new government- approved cribs for KPC. At the Sept. 18 meeting, the club donated baby formula diapers and baby wipes, baby lotion and baby bath products, diaper rash ointments, juices and baby food.KPC Kids has a 24-hour crisis hotline: 719-634-5439.If anyone is interested in the national effort of the Exchange Club of Falcon to help prevent child abuse, contact Ursula Miller at 719-495-1535. See calendar for meeting times of the Exchange Club.
