Friends and Members of the Eastern Plains Chamber,
Our chamber was pleased this year to sponsor the Food Drive for Boy Scout Troop 149.
On Saturday, April 13, Scouts from Troop 149 gathered food from you and our neighbors and delivered it to Fresh Start Center.
Grant Winger, the executive director of Fresh Start Center shared the following:
“I wanted to send a message to share our appreciation to the chamber for supporting this year’s Stock the Pantry Food Drive with Scout Troop 149 in Falcon.
“Each year, so many families rely on us to help when emergencies arise and they are unable to afford the basic necessities in life, such as food. Thanks to the Scouts in Falcon, they help us meet the need that has continued to grow each year as the cost of living continues to rise in our community. This year, the Scouts brought in 15,600 pounds of shelf-stable foods that will help get us through to October. Our reserves are overflowing, our shelves are stocked to the gills, and the variety of foods is impressive for those unsure where their next meal will come from.
“This of course would not be possible without support from the community, including having the Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce jump on board by supporting the printing needs and sourcing of the bags, which are the main collection method used during this drive.”
We are proud to partner with Fresh Start Center and with Scout Troop 149 that do so much good in our community.
Grant added,”On behalf of everyone at Fresh Start Center and the neighbors we serve, Thank You!”
No, thank you! We are the ones who are grateful to share in such a worthy cause.
