County negotiates with D 49 for diesel fuel

Falcon School District 49 and the Cimarron Hills Fire Department will purchase diesel fuel from the El Paso County Fleet Management Department this month. A total of 12,000 gallons will be made available to the two entities at a cost of $2.097 per gallon, which is the price the county fleet department paid for the fuel. The fleet management department was able to negotiate the price based on the purchase of 42,000 gallons of fuel; however, the county uses 30,000 gallons per month.According to the county, the average cost of diesel fuel is $2.14 per gallon, and the U.S. Department of Energy predicts that price to increase to $2.63 per gallon by mid year.
