County appoints new volunteer board members

The El Paso County Board of Commissioners appointed five citizens to two of its volunteer boards.Wayne Timura, Dr. Pat Boone and Pamela Sheffield were appointed to the board of adjustment, and Renee Ten Eyck and Steve Axford were selected for the placement alternatives commission.Timura has more than 25 years of experience in engineering, real estate, facility design, and development. Boone, who has lived in Colorado Springs for the past six years, is retired but still acts as a small group leader at New Life Church. Sheffield is a member of the Pikes Peak Association of Realtors, a Certified Commercial Investor Manager candidate and a graduate of the Pikes Peak Leadership Development Program.The board of adjustment meets every second Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the regional development center, 2880 International Circle. The board hears and decides physical variances related to dimensions, structural location or bulk limitation, nonconforming lots, building provisions, parking/development requirements, landscape requirements and advertising devices, as well as appeals of administrative decisions.Eyck is a member of the Special Education Parent Advisory Council for School District 8, a freelance writer and serves in the Army National Guard. Axford is the assistant director of special services for Falcon School District 49, and has a Ph.D. in educational psychology.The placement alternatives commission meets every second Monday at 7:30 a.m. at 105 North Spruce Street. The commission assists in developing the annual core service plan for the provision of services for children at risk for placement outside of their homes.
