Black Forest AARP

At the Nov. 9 meeting, the Black Forest AARP chapter welcomed Jim Tackett from the El Paso County Veteran Services office as the featured speaker. Tackett discussed benefits available to veterans.During the meeting the chapter recognized 25 veterans and veteransí widows from all branches of the military, from World War II to 2011.Chuck Karlstrum, chapter president, presented a $200 check to Karen Ketels from the Black Forest Cares Food Pantry. The pantry has provided assistance to individuals and families in the northern El Paso County area since 1985.The chapter also presented more than 240 items to TESSA in recognition of their mission to help victims of domestic violence. The items ñ some of which were handmade ñ will make the holidays a bit brighter for TESSAís clients. TESSA is an agency of the†Pikes Peak United Way.Individuals of all ages are invited to become involved with the Black Forest chapter and its numerous community service projects.
