AARP holiday celebration

The December meeting of the Black Forest AARP Chapter was a feast to be remembered, with turkey and ham catered in and delicious side dishes made by members. Prior to dinner, seasonal and classical music entertained the members. During dinner, a video of the 2013 Colorado AARP awards presentations was shown. The video featured the Black Forest Chapter, which was designated the best AARP chapter in Colorado for the fifth consecutive year, and five chapter members cited for their exceptional community service.The dinner meeting included the election of officers for 2014; they will become official at the Jan. 8 meeting.Members also collected holiday stockings filled with gifts for the Salvation Army for needy children. Crosses for Losses in Black Forest presented bird houses designed and built by Mike Gallagher to chapter members who lost their homes in the Black Forest fire. Chapter 1100 provided replacement T-shirts for those chapter members.Black Forest AARP Chapter membership is open to all ages. Meetings are held monthly, with the exception of August.
