A lot more than pizza

Greg Glischinski, the Colorado AARP president, and Jeremiah Mora, the State and Community Engagement Manager for AARP Colorado, visited the Chapter 1100 October meeting in Black Forest. They presented the AARP 2023 Colorado Outstanding Community Partner Award to Pastor Ken Hohag for the Black Forest Lutheran Church and the AARP 2023 Outstanding Volunteer Service Award to Candace Lehmann. A special luncheon entree of pizza was provided by the AARP guests from Denver. Chapter members contributed side dishes and desserts. A feast ensued!

After the awards and welcoming of guests and new members, the Chapter business meeting followed. Several reports and announcements were made and plans were finalized for the Oct. 21 Senior Life Expo in Colorado Springs.

Jill Rarig, the Chapter newsletter editor, provided an update on her ongoing project to update the chapter website. Her goal is to make it more attractive, interactive and informative. She solicited input for the website: https://www.aarpchapter1100blackforest.com.

Black Forest Chapter 1100 of AARP normally meets at noon the second Wednesday of the month, except August, at the Black Forest Lutheran Church, 12455 Black Forest Road. On some occasions they have “lunch out” at a local restaurant and they have an annual picnic at a Black Forest park in July. Read the monthly newsletter and visit the Chapter website to keep up with what has happened and what is planned as the Chapter fulfills the goal, “To Serve not the be Served.”

Chapter membership is open to all ages. All are welcome to visit and join.
