County Commissioners elect new chair

The El Paso County Board of Commissioners elected Sallie Clark, who represents District 3 (western El Paso County), the new chair of the board. Clark is the third woman in 145 years to serve as the chair. She was elected commissioner in 2004.”I’m looking forward to taking on a new role as chair of the commission, and greatly appreciate the support of my colleagues,” Clark said. “Major priorities this year will include improved public communication by working with the newly appointed Citizen Outreach Group, instituting the internal audit department to increase efficiencies and putting the final touches on the county’s updated strategic plan, our roadmap for the next five, 10 and 20 years.”Commissioner Dennis Hisey was elected vice chair. Hisey represents District 4, which covers the southern part of El Paso County.In the event that both the chair and vice chair are unable to attend a meeting, an appointed commissioner steps in – Jim Bensberg was elected to that role.The county commissioners outlined liaison responsibilities for each commissioner as well. Douglas Bruce, who represents eastern El Paso County, will act as the co-liaison to the district attorney and the housing authority along with commissioner Wayne Williams.
