The county commissioners approved $20,000 for victims of Hurricane Katrina.The Community Development Block Grant funds are provided by the Colorado Division of Housing to the county and other areas for evacuees who relocate to the state. The funds will be used for housing purposes, most likely rent and utilities.The Pikes Peak Community Action Agency, a local nonprofit organization that works to stabilize families in crisis, will manage the funds.Applications for assistance are available at the Billie Spielman Community Center 25 North 20th St. in Colorado Springs.
