In response to the editorial on page 8 of The New Falcon Herald’s October 2004 issue, entitled, “D-49 Issue 3-1 – Over a Quarter BILLION Dollars in new Debt”:“It says they can spend the whole $272 million (sic) for salary increases, or whatever the five-member school board wants. The wording does not require them to build a single school building. That’s just an invitation to disaster.” — Mark S. ShookWith all due respect to Mr. Shook, I, for one, trust the five-member school board to do the right thing. The money that the issue, should it pass, raises will be used to build new schools. If the school board should be found not to be good stewards of that money, they will be held accountable.I’m sorry if Issue 3-1 isn’t worded as specifically as Mr. Shook or others might like; unfortunately, we can’t wait around another year or two for one that is. Vote Yes on Issue 3-1 — for our children, and for the good of the whole community.Laurie Jackson
