On behalf of all animals, thank you to Marylou Doehrman for bringing this never-discussed issue to light. Doehrman is right in pointing out our immoral attitude towards animals. It always amazes me when people try to justify experimentation on animals. Professor Charles R.Magel said it best, “Ask the experimenters why they experiment on animals, and the answer is “because the animals are like us.” Ask the experimenters why it is morally okay to experiment on animals, and the answer is “because the animals are not like us.” Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction.”Marylou pointed out several of these logical contradictions in her article, and it is about time that we as compassionate, intelligent human beings try to expose and put an end to all animal suffering, as large of a task as that may be.Emily FrazeeColorado Springs
