It’s the Diamond Jubilee (75-year anniversary) of the Black Forest Festival, and this year promises to be the best yet. On Saturday, August 14, Black Forest and Shoup Roads will come alive with a street fair, games for kids, a parade and lots of food.A pancake breakfast, from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Black Forest Community Center will kick off the festivities. The parade, with 60-plus entries, will begin at 10:30 a.m., and 100 or more booths, featuring food, jewelry and everything and anything, will line the streets from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The little log school will be open; there will be a bounce house and a bubble pond for kids and an old-fashioned ice cream social for everyone. The Air Force Band of the Rockies and entertainment by Eddie Three Eagles will add to the crowd’s delight.POW – Protect Our Wells – will have a booth as well at the Black Forest Festival. It’s not too late for kids to enter the T-shirt art contest, and this year the theme is the 75th diamond jubilee celebration. Drop off entries at the Black Forest post office.Businesses are encouraged to participate with a booth or through advertisements in the festival program. For more information about the entire day, contact Chuck or Sherrie Lidderdale at 495-8675.
