Meet the Falcon Fire Protection District board candidates

Tina AllenTina Allen and her family have lived in the Falcon community for more than 12 years. Allen graduated from Doherty High School in 1986 and joined the Falcon Fire Protection District in 1995 through 1998. She is currently the manager of Cleaning Solutions Plus, where she has been employed for 10 years.”I would like the honor of serving my community and helping out the fire department, and that is why I am running for the board of the Falcon Fire Protection District,” said Allen.” I am the type of person who likes to check out all the facts before making an informed decision. Our small community has disappeared, and we need to find a way to meet the community needs along with the needs of a growing fire department.”Allen’s hobbies and interests include racing remote control cars, camping, fishing and “all kinds of paranormal research.”Mike CollinsMike Collins is a respiratory care practitioner and staff nurse employed by the Boettcher Health Center at Colorado College in Colorado Springs. He is also the co-owner of Clean Scene Crime Clean-Up.Collins is a former Falcon firefighter II and emergency medical technician. He is certified in hazard materials operations, incident command operations and as an instructor in biohazard materials operations/incident command.Collins is retired as a Pikes Peak Community College fire science and EMT instructor. He has served on a few boards including the Pikes Peak Fire Fighters Association (past president in 2001), the Emergency Services Agency of Colorado Springs and the Boy Scouts of America (he currently serves as the health and safety director for the local camp and serves on the risk management committee).Collins past credits include deputy coroner of Pueblo County and past president of the Emergency Medical Technicians Association of Colorado.Collins has more than 40 years experience as a firefighter. He is married to Carol and together they have seven children and 16 grandchildren.Alex DonnellIn 1998, Alex Donnell moved to Falcon, and, before the boxes were unpacked, he researched volunteer opportunities with the all-volunteer Falcon fire department. This June marks his 21st anniversary in the fire services.Throughout his years of service, Donnell has been a volunteer firefighter and line officer and currently holds the rank of deputy chief with the Falcon Fire Protection District.Donnell was the lead author for last year’s “Assistance to Fire Fighters Grant” that netted the fire district 96,605 in federal grant dollars for equipment necessary to enhance firefighter health, safety and training.”The future of the Falcon Fire Protection District, its volunteers, employees and especially the patrons of the district should be very important to the board,” said Donnell.” Only if we are looking forward two, five or ten years in the future can we plan accordingly. With the massive growth that is in our future, we need a proactive board that can work without being spoon fed.”Donnell owns Donnell Services, LLC, and is a registered investment advisor in Colorado. Donnell is also a member of the Falcon Professional Development League.Larry RobleyRobley moved to Falcon from Marshall, Minn., in 1996. In Marshall, Robley spent 13 years at Southwest State University as an associate professor and the chairman of the department of engineering technology. He served as a volunteer emergency medical technician with Marshall Emergency Medical Services for nine years, and was twice elected to the Marshall City Council.Robley currently owns and operates Turf Surgeons Landscaping in Falcon, and he has been a volunteer with the Falcon Fire Protection District for about two and a half years. Robley is also a member of the Frontier Charter Academy Board of TrusteesRobley is running because he believes in giving back to the community.”My father and grandfather were both active in city government in the small town where I grew up, and I hope to follow in their tradition,” said Robley.” The Falcon Fire Protection District is the fastest-growing district in El Paso County and one of the fastest growing in the state. A strong and experienced leadership team is necessary to keep pace with that growth.”
