Northeast Sheriff’s Office substation
The El Paso County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a contract amendment regarding construction of the EPC Sheriff’s Office Northeast substation. The amendment adds $2 million to the contract owner contingency fund to cover the costs of unforeseen services, scope modifications and associated materials related to the project.
The BOCC also unanimously approved a contract amendment to D2C Architects Inc. for design and architecture for the substation for $20,740. The funds will be used for required revisions for civil and structural engineering, landscape architecture and project construction documents.
Winsome subdivision
The commissioners unanimously approved an application for the final acceptance of certain streets within the Winsome Filing No. 2 subdivision.
Highway 24 and Judge Orr Road project
The BOCC unanimously approved a financial intergovernmental agreement between EPC and the Colorado Department of Transportation to reallocate funds slated for the Judge Orr Road/Blue Gill Drive intersection realignment project to the CDOT’s Highway 24 and Judge Orr Road intersection improvements project. The funds will still be used for the original purpose.
Peyton Ranches project
The commissioners unanimously approved a request by Fridah Joanitah Wood to replat 8.59 acres within the Peyton Ranches Filing No. 1A from Residential Rural-5 to create one single-family lot, located at 15330 East Chaparral Loop.
Vollmer Road improvements
The BOCC unanimously approved two intergovernmental agreements between EPC and CDOT related to improvement projects along Vollmer Road for the Burgess Road and Shoup Road intersections. In both instances, traffic impact studies recommended construction of a roundabout for roadway and intersection safety improvements. The IGAs will allow both roundabout projects to move forward for design and construction.
Highway 24 widening project
The commissioners unanimously approved a warranty deed, memorandum of agreement and temporary construction easement agreements to convey land to CDOT regarding the Highway 24 widening project.
Meridian Road/Flower Road intersection
The commissioners unanimously approved an award of agreement for services and a purchase order to Kimley Horn and Associates Inc. for the design of the Meridian Road/Flower Road intersection improvements for $438,116.
Nabulsi-Abushaban property
The BOCC unanimously approved a request by the Nabulsi-Abushaban Family Trust to create four single-family residential lots within a 24.8-acre parcel. The property is zoned RR-5 and located at the intersection of Old Ranch Road and Black Forest Road.
Antler Range subdivision
The commissioners unanimously approved a request by Antler Range LLC for the preliminary plan to create 84 single-family lots, one tract and 21.982 acres of right-of-way dedication on 244.496 acres. The property is zoned residential rural-2.5 and located at the northeast corner of the Ayer Road and Meridian Road intersection.
Calhan
North Tree Annexation is proposing a buildout of about 475 new single-family homes on 8,000 square feet each, clearing a path to a major housing development in Calhan. Smith Land Development Co. is the developer (LGI Homes is a potential buyer). The project could double the size of Calhan’s current population, which is about 760. The timeline will depend on the process for approval from the county and input from the town halls currently happening in Calhan.
