Scouting for Food a success

Submitted by Darrell Gull, Scoutmaster, Troop 149

Falcon’s 2026 Scouting for Food drive is a wrap. We had some great weather this year and a great turnout of volunteers and community support. We are still collecting food donations from some of the houses we missed on our main drive day. This year’s food collection totaled over 15,000.

All donations go to the Fresh Start Center that we partner with every year. This event is led by the scouts in Troop 149 of Falcon but we have also enjoyed partnering with Cub Scout Pack 231 of Falcon and Troop 70 in Black Forest. We also have great volunteers from the Falcon 4-H club, Girl Scout Troop 43820 and Girl Scout Troop 45234. The materials needed to make this a success were funded by the High Plains Chamber of Commerce. Thank you all!

Four men stand and smile in a food pantry, with shelves of packaged food and supplies visible behind them. Two are in scout uniforms, one wears a blue shirt, and one wears a gray shirt.

Leland Conant, Grant Winger (administrator of Fresh Start Center), Jarod Goodell-Murphy and Darrell Gull (Scoutmaster, Troop 149) organize food donations.

Two boys in scouting uniforms unload supplies from a white trailer parked in a dirt lot on a sunny day.

Scouts Alex Heifner (walking away) and Bennet Gauger help unload trucks for the food drive event.

Several people stand near tables with bags of supplies next to a blue truck in an open field under a clear sky.
