October 10 Chapter activities
By Stanley Beckner
The October meeting of the Black Forest Chapter 1100 of AARP was filled with good food from everyone who donated to the potluck lunch; and there was a program of interest to all who have pets, presented by Tamara Bennett; a Halloween Costume contest; and special recognition of long-term, dedicated Chapter members.
The Black Forest chapter of AARP meets the second Wednesday of each month in the Fellowship Hall of the Black Forest Lutheran Church, 12455 Black Forest Road, in Black Forest. Contact the president, Ray Rozak, for questions or additional details. All ages are welcome to visit or join.

The meeting closed with Chapter members who have made a firm commitment to service to their community and the AARP Chapter 1100 through membership longevity: from left to right, Ray Rozak, (17 years), Jan Solverson, (five years), Lori Belk, (10 years), Jim Belk, (10 years), Vjay Verma, (eight years), Betty Kyle, (six years), and Bobbie Welton (eight years). Each was presented with a distinctive badge for their Chapter longevity.

Tamara Bennett (with Halloween “ears”) provided a helpful presentation about the needs of pets and what owners of pets should consider for the safety and well-being of pets, as members of a family.
