New doc joins growing veterinary center

October was a big month at Tender Care Veterinary Center on Meridian Park Drive. The Falcon pet care practice celebrated 4,000 client paw prints and introduced a new veterinary doctor.ìWe reached 1,000 active clients that have come through our door,î said co-owner John Amen. ìWe’re pretty proud about that and appreciate all the support in our community.î The thousand animals, at ñ- usually ñ- four paws a piece brought the practice to its 4,000 paws count.Dr. Mark Finke joined the TCVC team as the third doctor on staff in mid-October. He brings additional emergency care and surgical expertise to the practice.ìI grew up near Lexington, Kentucky, and had quite a bit of exposure to the thoroughbred horse community; and went to vet school with equine focus at Auburn,î Finke said. ìI did a two-week externship with Colorado Equine in Peyton ó that’s how I got introduced to this area.îFinke moved from horse care to small animal emergency care when he and his wife had a baby daughter. ìLifestyle changed so it helped to have consistent hours,î Finke said. ìEmergency experience is probably the thing I bring to the team here, as well as a passion for surgery. I’m looking forward to gaining more experience with long-term management of medical cases from the team.îFinke and fellow veterinarians Amy Clark and Robert Willyard are located at 8036 Meridian Park Drive, near the Meridian Road 7-Eleven.
