On Feb. 1, the nonprofit organization, Crosses for Losses in Black Forest, has expanded to two buildings. Still in the same location, across from the community center off Black Forest and Shoup roads, Crosses for Losses now rents two smaller cabins nearby, extending the facility by about 800 square feet. Amanda Davis said the new buildings house the clothing and food. Davis said if the community would like to help, monetary donations are greatly needed to assist in paying rent and utilities. ìThese are old buildings and the utilities cost a lot,î Davis said. ìWe can continue to give things away as long as we cover our bills.îConi Fisher, a volunteer who manages the clothing section for the nonprofit, said things are still a work in progress, and she is still getting organized. ìWe get four to nine bags of clothes a day, so I encourage people to check in regularly for something they may need.î Currently open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day except Tuesdays and Sundays, Fisher said she hopes to open from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays. ìIt is amazing what people are donating: REI, GAP, Levi- good brands that are going to last.î She said they need more menís clothing, in particular a size 15 manís shoe, which is hard to come by.Ray and Lin Rozak run the food pantry portion of Crosses for Losses, with assistance from their ìemotional supportî dog, Kelly. The Rozakís lost their home in the fire and are currently in the rebuilding process. The Rozaks said they are waiting until March for a bit warmer weather before they start the process. Ray Rozak said he estimates the pantry feeds almost 2,000 people a month. The Care and Share Food Bank, as well as a few local restaurants like Red Lobster, provide food for them to distribute. The food pantry is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Saturday, and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
