Black Forest AARP

KRDO Weatherman, Matt Meister, was the feature speaker at the September meeting of the Black Forest AARP Chapter No. 1100. He gave an informative presentation on the tools and preparation behind the daily weather forecasts for the Front Range area. Graphics and video clips of weather phenomenon in action accompanied his presentation. He also answered numerous weather related questions from the chapter membership and guests.At the 41st anniversary meeting of the Black Forest AARP Chapter, annual longevity badges were presented to members who have been with the chapter for five, 10 and 15 or more years. Those recognized were Rosemary OíConnell, Chuck Karlstrum, Shirley Karlstrum, Iola Geiger, Electa Beckner and Carolyn Jaworski. Replacement longevity badges were also given to chapter members who had lost them in the Black Forest fire.AARP Chapter No. 5451 in Parker, Colo., provided individual gift packets to the fire victims. The Black Forest chapter membership appreciated their gesture.Amanda Davies from Black Forest Colorado Crosses for Losses charity invited Black Forest fire victims to their location in the Forest to gather items they might need free of charge.Black Forest Chapter 1100 membership is open to all ages.
