Falcon Girl Scouts earn gold

Three Falcon High School students received the Gold Award this spring, the Girl Scoutís highest achievement. Stephanie Boudreaux, Jacqueline Lloyd and Caroline Troscher demonstrated extraordinary leadership and citizenship skills in their commitments to the community.ìI partnered with the Woodmen Hills Recreation Center on their annual beauty day for girls, Boudreaux said. ìTheir current event was for young girls, but I decided that middle school girls need to learn more about this subject, as without proper knowledge it can lead to low self-esteem.îLloyd said, ìDuring my volunteer work with my schoolís athletic training program, I noticed they had a need for hot and cold packs to help with treatments. I created 15 of these to earn my Gold Award.îìFor my Gold Award project I helped out the new local library in my town,î Troscher said. ìOne day when my mom and I drove by the library, it struck me that there wasn’t much there but the building itself. I decided to decorate the outside of the building, including adding picnic tables so people visiting could enjoy reading in the great Colorado outdoors.î”Earning the Girl Scout Gold Award designation is truly a remarkable achievement, and these young women exemplify leadership in all its forms,” said Stephanie Foote, chief executive officer of Girl Scouts of Colorado. “They saw a need and took ownership of helping to develop a solution and took action to make it happen.î
