Cats from Taos need homes

A Black Forest Animal Sanctuary team of four volunteers went to Taos, N.M., in February to assist in the rescue of cats and dogs from a hoarding situation. The person hoarding the 100 cats and 25 dogs had good intentions but became bedridden, and her staff failed to properly care for the animals. Local resources in Taos asked for help from other agencies. The team returned to Black Forest with 62 cats. The sanctuary set up temporary heated housing units until the weather breaks and construction can begin on permanent housing. The cats have been examined by a veterinarian and are all spayed or neutered, vaccinated and FIV/FELV tested. In addition, five loveable dogs were saved from a high-kill shelter in Taos (including an 8-week-old puppy with a broken leg). Anyone wishing to adopt can make appointments after completing an animal interest form. Email BFASFarm@aol.com for the form and more information. The sanctuary is trying to raise funds to care for the new additions. Anyone wishing to donate can do so by visiting http://BFASFarm.org and using the secure PayPal account. Volunteers are always needed as well. Contact us for a tour of the facility.
