Class on carrying concealed weapons

In July, the Rest and Restoration Bed and Breakfast in Falcon will host a class on carrying concealed weapons. Dan Brunner, owner of the Personal Defense Institute, will teach the class. Brunner has been an instructor on the topic for 36 years and recently received the National Rifle Associationís Patriot Medal for his outstanding teaching abilities. Before he started the PDI, Brunner worked for the Colorado Division of Wildlife. ìWhen I retired, I wanted to do something that I enjoy, which is teaching,î he said. ìI’m also an avid competitive shooter. I started shooting when I was 4 and competing when I was 8. It’s been an integral part of my life, all my life.îThe class will cover laws on carrying concealed weapons, how to carry them, appropriate handguns for concealed carry and what to say (or not say) to a law enforcement officer should the concealed weapon be used in a self-defense situation, Brunner said.Carrying a concealed weapon is a ìhuge responsibility,î he said. ìItís not to be taken lightly; thatís one of the things I try to emphasize in the class.îThe class is July 10, from 6 to 9 p.m. For more information or to register, visit the PDI Web site at http://thepdi.org.
