Grant Sabin of the Grant Sabin Band played at Loftyís in downtown Colorado Springs May 17. Sabin is one of many musicians who performed at the Memorial Day Weekend MeadowGrass Music Festival at La Foret Conference and Retreat Center in Black Forest. The festival, titled ìPicken in the Pinesî in 2008, began as a two-day festival featuring local musicians and has grown to a three-day festival with local, state and national bands. Twenty-one bands performed at the festival this year. Festivities included plenty of family activities and even a yoga class. The festival operated on a $10,000 budget. (Photo by Thea Skinner)
