Beginning in February, the new chartering organization for Boy Scouts of America Troop 14 became VFW Post 5221 of Calhan, Colo. Boy Scouts and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America join for several purposes. Boy Scouts of America provides a program for young people that builds character, trains in the responsibilities of citizenship and develops personal fitness. VFW corporate purpose is fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable and educational; to preserve and strengthen comradeship among its members; to assist worthy comrades; to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead and to assist their widows and orphans; to maintain true allegiance to the government of the United States of America and fidelity to its institutions of American freedom; and to preserve and defend the United States from all her enemies.BSA Troop 14 is thankful for the opportunity to use the VFW facility in Calhan for their meetings.
